Quick wire connectors are connectors that can connect wires together quickly without wrapping tape or screwing for a long time. They are mainly divided into two categories: household press-type and industrial terminal blocks
How do they connect?
This type of terminal usually has springs or clips inside. You don't need to twist the copper wires like the old method and then wrap them with tape.
- Spring compression: Like some industrial spring cage terminals, there is a V-shaped stainless steel spring inside. Press with a screwdriver, insert the wire, and release. The spring will automatically press the wire tightly. It is shock-resistant and does not require welding.
- Press-type clips: The common type used at home. Strip the wire end and insert it into the hole. Press the orange or red small lever on top, and the metal piece inside will bite the wire. Just release it when you want to remove it.
- Plug-in connection: There is another type like plugs and sockets. Male and female connectors plug into each other, and a twist connects or disconnects them. Suitable for places that need frequent maintenance.
What are the common types?
Depending on the usage locations, the appearance and functions are different. You should choose carefully when buying:
- Household press-type connectors: The most common type. Usually 2-in-2-out or 3-in-3-out. Used for connecting lamps and socket wires. No need to strip too long wires. Both hard and soft wires can be used.
- Industrial quick terminal blocks: Used in factory control cabinets. Modular like building blocks. With fuses and indicator lights. Can protect PLC and DCS systems. If broken, just pull it out and replace without removing the wires.
- Crimp terminals: This is a metal terminal head. You need to use a crimping tool to press the wire into it, then connect it to the screw terminal. It has more stable contact and is suitable for high-power electrical appliances 。
